این جمله به طور کاملا شفاف به ممتحن نشان می دهد که شما در مورد سوال چه نظری دارید. پس این جمله به عبارتی هسته اصلی رایتینگ شما را تشکیل می دهد و جملات بعدی رایتینگ باید این جمله را حمایت و تکمیل کنند.

چگونه thesis statement بنویسم؟

اولین موردی که باید به آن توجه داشته باشید این است که نوع سوال را تشخیص بدهید و با توجه به نوع کلمه دستوری که آمده است دقت کنید. برای نمونه، در سوال پایین، کلمه دستوری ‘do you agree or disagree’ است.

در هر ۳ سوال بالا کلمات کلیدی یعنی “آموزش و کامپیوترها” شبیه هم هستند. اما کلمات کلیدی نشان می دهند که لازم است که به هر سوال به صورت خاصی پاسخ دهید و این مساله  روی thesis statement است کلمات دستوری سوالات بالا در پایین آمده اند:

۱٫ Discuss the advantages and disadvantages and give your own opinion.

حتما باید زمانی را به آنالیز دقیق سوال اختصاص دهید به خوبی منظور ممتحن از سوالی که در رایتینگ مطرح کرده است دقیقا چه چیزی است؟ زمانی که مشخص شد سوال از شما چه چیزی می خواهد،باید به نوشتن thesis statement فکر کنید. در مورد نوشتن thesis statement برای ۴ نوع سوال متفاوت صحبت خواهد شد:

ما در مورد این گونه سوالات سه گزینه پیش رو دارید:

۱. موافقت

۳. هم موافقت و هم مخالفت

پیشنهاد می شود که همیشه یا گزینه ۱ یا گزینه ۲ را انتخاب کنید.انتخاب گزینه ۳ معمولا باعث رایتینگ های گیج کننده یا خیلی طولانی می شود. اگرشما فقط یک گزینه داشته باشید و خوب در مورد آن صحبت کنید، این کار باعث می شود که رایتینگ های شفاف تری بنویسید که به خوبی موضوع را مورد بحث قرار داده اند. بنابراین، شما دو گزینه برای پاسخ به این سوال در پیش دارید:

۱٫ I agree that some aspects of celebrity culture have a bad influence on young people.
۲٫ I disagree that some aspects of celebrity culture have a bad influence on young people.

همه جملات thesis statement برای این نوع سوال باید با جملات زیر شروع شوند:

This essay agrees that…..

یا

This essay disagrees that…..

ما باید از ضمایر شخصی مانند ‘I’ استفاده نکنیم و به جای آن بهتر است از ‘This essay….’ استفاده کنیم. همچنین به یاد داشته باشید که نباید دقیقا صورت سوال را کپی کنیم چون در امتحان رایتینگ شما مجاز به این کار نمی باشید و در عوض آن را باید پارافریز کنید.

دومین نمونه سوال برای دادن نظر شخصی

Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems.

Thesis Statement: This essay disagrees that the best way to resolve increasing pollution and congestion problems is to raise the cost of fuel.

Computers are being used more and more in education. Some people say that this is a positive trend, while others argue that it is leading to negative consequences.

Discuss both sides of this argument and then give your own opinion.

برای این نمونه سوالات، لازم است که به طور شفاف دو طرف بحث را مورد بررسی قرار داده و در خاتمه نظر خود را بیان کنید. ما می توانیم این کار را با پارافریز کردن سوال شروع کنیم و سپس دو طرف بحث را بررسی و در انتها نظر شخصی خود را بیان کنیم. نظر شخصی ما باید فقط از یک طرف بحث طرفداری کند. اگر هر دو طرف بحث را نیز قبول نداشتید، باز هم فقط از یک طرف آن طرفداری کنید تا جوابی شفاف تر بدهید.

Thesis statement: Some argue that schools and universities increasing use of computers is a beneficial trend, while others are opposed to this view. This essay agrees that growing use of technology by educators is a positive development.
